Venus, Goddess of Love, enters Capricorn on December 24th (in Europe, early on the 25th in the Americas), beginning a three-week stay in the sign. In Capricorn, Venus emphasizes the more formal aspects of love and relationship, and tends towards the traditional. It can represent quite a shift in our collective mood after her time partying in Sagittarius.
Each of us has our own Venus, signifying our personal styles of relating. Where Venus is in the sky shows what is emphasized as we interact and socialize, a subtle undertone that may or may not resonate with our personal inclinations. While Venus is in Capricorn, we may find that we are concerned with getting to the bottom line in our relationships. It’s also a time when we look to see what we are building in our partnerships.
Venus moves through Capricorn each year, but this year (and for the next couple of years), she meets with Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, who returned to his home sign just last week (he was last in his sign from 1988 – 1991). This year, that meeting takes place just a few hours after Venus arrives, and happens at the crucial first degree of the sign.
Thus, this meeting likely sounds the themes for relationships for the next few years, at least in terms of their formal aspects. Keep an eye on the news, as well as your personal life, to see what’s being said and what issues come up.
In our personal lives, there may be a feeling that we’re approaching a deadline or decision point – especially if a relationship has been in flux. In the next few weeks, Venus will have some very intense encounters, most notably a conjunction with the Sun and Pluto on January 9th. Some of us will find that our partnerships transform significantly by the time she leaves for Aquarius on January 19th.
