Mars plays a key role in all our relationships as it describes our core drive and energy, which also fuels our desire nature. (See prior blog from June on Mars in Cancer for more on Mars in relationships!)
In moving from watery Cancer to fiery Leo, there is a shift from focusing on family issues, to connecting with our individual wants and desires. The key characteristics of Mars in Leo include: determination, action oriented, me first, courage, fun loving, easily bored and playful.
Leo rules the heart and when Mars in Leo takes action from the heart, it shines brightly like the Sun, generously expanding everything and everyone it comes into contact with. However, if it comes from the ego, then its actions are likely to be predominantly self-centered, arrogant and entitled.
Mars travelling through Leo over the next month and particularly over the next week when the Sun is travelling right next to it, is likely to be particularly helpful for anyone who tends to give too much of themselves in relationships, whether it’s with partners, family, friends or co-workers. Egocentric tendencies are likely to be highlighted and exaggerated, making them more easily noticeable to everyone, including the individual themselves! This may result in the ending of some relationships, including friendships and work connections, or it may create a new beginning based on a true openhearted connection. The outcome is likely to depend on how ruthlessly honest and courageous everyone can be with themselves and each other.
Mars in Leo is a very direct Mars, making this a wonderful time to be brave and initiate romantic relationships in a fun and playful manner. (If your natal Venus is in a Fire sign in your Chart, you likely to find this easier to do!) If you are in a committed relationship, this is a great time to explore new ways to have fun and to keep the fires of sexual desire alive. This is also a fun time to go on new adventures with friends and expand your social circle beyond your comfort zone!
Some useful questions to ask this month include:
1. Who do I really enjoy spending time with and why?
2. Who do I feel drained and stressed by in my life? Is it time to say good-bye?
3. How ego-centric am I on a daily life? How truly generous am I on a daily basis? How open is my heart?
