The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are
- Jim Morrison
Is anyone else breathing a sigh of relief now that Mars has moved from Scorpio to Sagittarius? Can you feel the difference in your relationships?
So how is Mars in Sagittarius likely to feel in your interactions with others? Mainly – Expansive with a capital E! From the intense depth of the Mars invitation to plummet the underworld of our relationships, Mars in Sagittarius invites us to reach for the sky and beyond. This makes it an ideal time to envision the most expansive possibility in your relationships. If there were no practical restrictions, what expansive changes would you like to make within yourself and in all of your relationships? More friends? An intimate partner? A wider circle of work connections?
Mars in Sagittarius is also about exploring – both within and externally. Where would you love to travel to with your loved ones? Is there a course you have been planning to do together for a while – maybe to do with communication, or improving your sex life, or having more fun…A house renovation or extension, or maybe even selling up and moving somewhere else. The possibilities are endless with Mars in this fiery freedom oriented sign. Which brings us to one of the key themes of Sagittarius – Feedom!
As we all know well, one of the core issues in intimate relationships is the innate conflict between our need for personal freedom and our desire to share our life with a significant other, which at times involves compromising some of our freedom. William Glasser has an interesting way of classifying personalities according to what is most important to them. The key ones being Love & Belonging and Freedom. His premise is that if one individual scores high on Love & Belonging and the other scores high on Freedom, it can be very challenging for the relationship.
Astrologically we can view this elementally, where if one chart has a very Fiery or Airy chart (Freedom oriented) and the other is mostly Earth and Water, (Love & Belonging oriented), there is a bigger bridge to cross between them. Those of you who have worked with Armand and I in our couples and/or family work, know that we never deem any relationship to be incompatible if love is present. It just takes the willingness and commitment to do the work to bridge the differences. So it’s worth noting what is key for you and your significant other, as Mars in Sagittarius will bring to the fore issues to do with freedom for both of you.
