By nature Mars is an action driven energy, so when it moves from a Fire to an Earth sign, the first thing we notice is a slowing down of our life force. Freud called it our libido for good reason, in that our Mars energy is also what fuels our sex drive. Capricorn has a whole different feel to it than dynamic Sagittarius, but there are several advantages to it.
Mars in Capricorn has a staunch determination which can be very helpful in relationships, particularly during challenging times. Mars in this Earth sign puts its head down and does the necessary work. The thing to look out for with Mars in Capricorn is to not get lost in the task at hand, at the expense of the emotional and fun aspects of the relationship. With its tendency toward seriousness, it’s easy to forget that the sign of the mountain goat, probably has the best sense of humor of all the signs in the zodiac. Its ability to laugh at itself, can be a great asset particularly during times of stress in relationships.
Mars in Capricorn has a very strong sense of responsibility and integrity. During this time we may need to be careful not to take responsibility for other people’s ‘bad’ behavior and to recognize when we need to put up some boundaries, (not walls), to avoid other people’s messes impinging on our lives.
Although it is not renowned as a particularly romantic sign for Mars to be in, it’s easy to underestimate the sensuality of this sign. Unlike Taurus which loves visual and sensual beauty as an important part of sex, Capricorn is more likely to simply enjoy the primal instinctual physical pleasure of sex.
With Mars in Capricorn, the next few weeks are a great time to work at putting strong foundations in relationships in order to manifest something we really desire – whether it’s in a current relationship/friendship or a new one. Unlike Mars in Sagittarius, quality rather than speed matter with this Mars, so it’s worth taking our time and laying the bricks to build something solid, as we move forward with our important relationships.
We may also make a deeper relationship commitment with a significant other during this time, or make a commitment to care for an older or younger family member towards whom we feel a sense of duty.
It’s also worth noting that Mars changes sign just a few hours after the New Moon in Pisces and continues to square the Sun (in Pisces and Aries) until mid-April. The invitation is to manifest some aspect of the Pisces and Aries energies in our life and in our relationships. Notice which houses of your midpoint composite chart Mars and the Sun are travelling through – with your significant other, family members, friends and other important connections. Is there anything you need to make amends for, so that you can move forward more easily when the Sun moves into Aries? What are you ready to let go of in your relationship, so that something new can be created in a more solid way? MG
