The ground has certainly been rumbling over the past few days, with Pluto preparing to go stationary direct in the early hours of tomorrow morning Irish time/late evening today EST. We have all witnessed the heartbreaking loss of life from the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia, as well as rumblings in other parts of the world and in other spheres. No doubt for many of us, there has also been some ‘ground shaking’ in our relationships!
From April 22nd when Pluto went Retrograde, until now, we were offered the opportunity to re-view and re-consider issues of power, control and passion within ourselves and in our relationships. The invitation was to descend into the depth of our shadow selves, to discover the deepest unconscious motivations that play an important part in the nature of the structures we have built in our lives, including our relationships.
Key issues we are likely to have reviewed consciously or unconsciously over the past few months include: the ‘rules’ and ethics that form the basis of our relationships, underlying father issues - including the internalized father within, issues to do with the experience of authority in our lives, issues of control based on abuse and survival, terror and rage…
The underworld also holds many treasures, if we are willing to dive beneath the surface. The greatest one is love and the ability to be intimate with another person, based on self-awareness, truth and integrity. By its nature intimacy is intrinsically Plutonian, as it requires loss of control and the willingness to be vulnerable in trusting another person.
Now that Pluto is going direct, there is an opportunity to integrate many of these issues into our lives and relationships in a constructive creative manner, or in a destructive way, depending on our levels of awareness, as well as free will and choice. In an effort to clear out old internal patterns, we might find ourselves initially projecting them onto the people in our lives, rather than owning them for ourselves. However, this can be very damaging and we may well decide to release some people from our life over the next few days, particularly if they refuse to acknowledge and take responsibility for destructive behavior. Mercury in Libra until Oct 10th, offers us a window of time to try and assess our relationships in a more fair and balanced way, before making too many drastic decisions.
If you have planets or angles between 18’ and 20’ Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and/or Libra in your natal and/or composite charts, you are likely to resonate more strongly with the above themes within yourself and in your relationships. MG
