Elegance... Venus in Capricorn 2021

November 5, 2021

Venus enters Capricorn on November 5, 2021, beginning an extended stay - through March 6 of 2022. During her time in Saturn’s sign, she’ll retrograde for 40 days - more on that as we approach it. For now, we’ll note that Venus will begin to slow down in her movement as we get deeper into November, and that she crossed into the shadow of her retrograde on November 18th.

In Capricorn, Venus favors formality and elegance, and encourages us to stick with tradition (whatever your tradition happens to be). As we approach the holiday season, it’s likely that both home and office parties have a more formal vibe, where social sophistication is appreciated.

Venus is also somewhat cautious in Capricorn, and we may find that we’re evaluating and re-evaluating our relationship status. While in Sagittarius, she was inclined to take a leap of faith in the areas of partnership and romance, but in Capricorn it’s more a matter of look before you leap.

Not that progress isn’t possible, but the step-by-step pace of Capricorn brings the mountain goat up the mountain slowly. Thanks to her retrograde, step-by-step may involve two steps forward and one step back. What progress we do make is likely to have lasting potential, however.

There are some exceptions - as Venus trines Uranus on November 20th, we’ll feel an acceleration of energy around partnership, and perhaps a willingness to make changes in relationships: gentle changes, but changes nonetheless. In fact, Venus’ station direct in late January is just shy of Uranus, so that we come out of the retrograde faster than expected.

Her station to retrograde on December 19th is closely conjunct Pluto, and from mid-December through the end of the month there could be some very intense relationship energy. It could feel like a make-or-break moment in partnerships that have been under strain, and issues of commitment may come up for many.

Yet the very meaning of the retrograde suggests that we’ll reevaluate our position, and it may be late February or early March before we really know what’s going to happen.

By all means, Venus in Capricorn this time around is not going to be dull!
