Indulgences

June 1, 2021

Venus enters Cancer on June 2, shifting from Gemini's lite and flirty social vibe towards more traditional and home-oriented feel. Cancer is the sign of June weddings, after all.

Yet Venus’ stay in the sign of the crab won’t be all backyard barbecues and family dinners. In fact, the goddess of love will be quite busy with her social connections. There’s an eclipse on the 10th and a Neptunian vibe takes over at mid-month, and both can get us to see things through a fish-eye mirror that lets us see things clearly, but out of proportion.

Things flow easily at the start of Venus stay, as she makes a trine to her BFF, Jupiter tomorrow. These two planets always make for a good time, and the only potential downside is a bit of overindulgence. We’ll be feeling optimistic about our social prospects and our partnerships through the early days of June, although a Mercury/Neptune square and Mars/Pluto opposition could provide more tension by the weekend.

Venus squares Chiron and sextiles Uranus, on the 12th. The first aspect can spark self-doubt about our relationship potentials, while the second offers new ways of approaching our partnerships. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but if it ain’t working, try something new. With the Sun square to Neptune on the same day, be aware that we could see a little too much in someone, making them into heroes or villains.

Don’t expect a realistic vibe to be in place on the 20th/21st, as Venus trines Neptune as Jupiter stations to retrograde. Once again, our imaginations may rule over the facts, but it’s a nice energy that can infuse our relationships with hope and optimism, and put some of the jagged edges into soft focus.

Things get real after that, with Venus opposing Pluto on the 23rd then trining Pallas Athene just afterwards. Head-butting with Pluto can mean that power struggles come to the surface, although it may also be that we recognize the potential for passion. Pallas Athene will help us to express whatever comes up. Yet again, a slightly unrealistic vibe may distort the situation, as Neptune stations to retrograde on the 25th.

Venus sheds her apron and puts on her party dress on the 27th, as she heads for Leo.
